Jose Ñec Ñec in translation....

Monday 23rd of January 2006

Here is an interview Lolo did with Jose for www.gsshgssh.com . I translated it from Spanish to English with some corrections from Jose. You can tell how much they love each other from the questions and answers and how much I love them because I am la ultranerdy and translated it! I have to say it is cooler and sweeter in Spanish but what isn’t?

From the gsshouse:
<<< JOSEDILLA RUSA!.
--------------------------------------------------
- Ensaladilla Rusa´s guitar player and delay-vocals
- Co-Owner of the label Afeite al Perro
- Musical Genious
- Wonderful person
- True punk!
- Gold Heart
- Lovely friend

1- What do you think in your head when you hear the words GSHH GSHH!?
Pictures of Maurix on a 45 degree angle screaming noise at a weasel

2- What could the initials G.S.S.H mean?
Grossman ha Sido pillado Sisando Humus en el maoz?

3- What is the Gsshaus for you?
My friendship with you and that I was in a band that released a single there right?

4- What's you favorite release and why? (it can't be yours which is the best one for me.)
The Grabba CD-Rs and the face of Grabba on the that fucking tank single. Why? Because recording doesn?t do justice to the group and the direction sometimes is like Sex Pistols (in the american tour), but you still have the best songs in the world.

5-What do you like least about Gssh! Gssh! and what do you like the most?
What I like least means there were things that now aren't and I don't like no? Well I have to say I don't like anything less.

What I like most is that you release exclusively only what you like without extra factors of influence when you pick the bands. I like that it's a label of vinyl, which is the best format in the world, and that each record is like a unique work of art. WORD!

6- Any special story about your relationship to the label?
Mmmmmmm… I think it was precious when we were painting the records in the street with our stencils. Those are the things that make making records cool.

7- Are you going to make another record with us? (Don't look the other way!!)
I don't have any complaint for our record so I think of course.

8- Tell us about Afeite al Perro if you would like, the label of Ensaladilla Rusa.
More than a label, it's a name for whatever shit we want to do: shows, singles, CD-Rs, books at the moment (apart from a few concerns for Ensaladilla and some of our friends) we have released these things:

"Ensaladilla Rusa live" cd-r 3" (limited edition to 20 copies, almost all bought by el Italiano from Omega Cinco)-

"Silence In Music" cd-r (limited edition to 20 copies, with silk screened insert and cd). The band of Jaime and Pablo of Ensaladilla. There are still copies and if you want them write to coleopteros@hotmail.com (EDITORS NOTE, SILENCE IN MUSIC IS AMAZING, YOU SHOULD GET ONE)

We are going to release the single of Margarita, a co-release with them. This time in vinyl and I suppose we?ll make things more serious in the future (naj naj naj!). OH! And next the CD-R of Bicicross and the novel of Maikel Vonn Dekker, "Mexico o Muere", a co-release with Gssh! Gssh! (no we havent forgotten!) That's what we've released.

9- What do you think of the labels of Spain? What do you think they do badly and what do you think they do well?
I?m not anyone to say what is good or bad. I have my opinions like the rest of the world, and there are a lot of labels (the majority) that I don?t like because they go for the PASTA (that means CASH, moli...) more than other things, they pretend they are independent, they don't give records to the bands (don't talk about money for sold records!) and in fact they act like majors but with less money.

I like the small labels owned by normal people and all they want to do is release amazing records. They work better or worse, for me, those are the ones I like. This makes me looks like a nazi , no? Josh the nazi, corre la voz.

10- What do you want people to know about Gssh! Gssh! and the people who are around them?
They are the people who are my friends. What can I say?? They are funniest and most gracious people I know and I love them millions.

** Editors note, on my recent stopover in Madrid Jose and Lolo and Maik and Jaime and Maria and Grossman and Maurix and Hugo came by for a beer and we spent 6 hours laughing and drinking and telling stories and smiling in the sun until the sun left. It was the best day and it’s a good formula for everyone to try some days. I am so grateful they fell into my life. It’s better knowing them.
